NowThis x Corona

Corona Extra has long been synonymous with the beach, celebrating it as the ultimate destination for rest and relaxation. We know it’s our responsibility to keep our beaches clean for both current and future generations so we partnered with Corona to not only get our audience up to speed and involved with the work being done to clean up our beaches, but also provide them with the tools and inspirational products to get out there and join the cause.

Protect Our Beaches

Corona’s Objective

Amplify Corona’s Protect Our Beaches initiative and galvanize young people to get directly involved in keeping our beaches plastic-free.

Our Insights

21% of Americans have switched to brands that align to their values and 75% of our own audience believes corporations have a responsibility to address climate change.

For too long, the narrative around sustainability has been one of fear…but research shows that when we see real action being taken (and real results being felt) - it lets us know the change we need is not only possible, but can also inspire us to feel hopeful and optimistic about how we can help make a difference, too.

Our Solution

To inspire our audience to think outside the plastic wrap, NowThis and Corona Extra hosted a sweepstakes where we gave away 250 boxes full of eco-friendly products specifically designed for a guilt-free beach day. Featuring products hand-selected by our team such as reef-friendly sunscreen packaged in aluminum and a reusable cotton tote, the box itself also functioned as a re-usable beer carrier. This was our very first direct-to-consumer offering that was 100% plastic-free.

And to encourage our audience to get involved in beach cleanup themselves, we also created supplemental social and written content on Group Nine brands Thrillist and POPSUGAR leading up to International Coastal Cleanup Day, filled with tips on how to participate in your community.

The Results

We garnered more than 18,900+ sweepstakes entries for our beach day boxes and generated millions of impressions for Corona Extra’s Protect Our Beaches initiative.
